Reviews for Canon PowerShot SX230HS 12.1 MP Digital Camera with HS SYSTEM and DIGIC four Image Processor, 14x optical zoom (Black) (Camera) I bought this digital camera as a substitutement for my Canon SD800IS, where I was very excited by getting the new GPS capabilities. I even have a skilled digital camera with my Canon 7D, so that is extra of a family/trip digital camera.
Overall, I'm very happy the photo quality and guide options offered (control over exposure degree, aperture environment, flash degree, and so on.) Having a single button to shoot video is superb. However, the battery lifestyles is approach shorter than my previous digital camera. I'm getting round 200-220 pictures (instead of 600+), with just a few videos thrown in, per battery with the GPS function turned on. Buy an additional battery.
Reviews for Canon PowerShot SX230HS 12.1 MP Digital Camera with HS SYSTEM and DIGIC 4 Image Processor, 14x optical zoom (Black) (Camera) Pros:
[1] Very increase digicam in a small package deal. Has various the features of the Canon DSLRs.
[2] You can edit the pictures inside the camera (color, cropping, filters)
[3] HD video recording is superior.
[4] 14X zoom plus 56X digital zoom.
[5] GPS
[6] Trigger capturing with smile or wink
[7] Mini HDMI out put
[8] Many modes to make a call from. Tv, Av, M, P, Portrait, Landscape...just to call a couple of
[9] Adjustable shutter as so much as 1/3200
[10] Adjustable ISO from a hundred-3200
[11] HS and IS makes this thing well value the money
[12] Menus are easy to navigate (because its much like the Canon DSLRs)
[13] The mode selector dial goes all of the way round with out stopping.
[14] Too many to checklist...
Cons:
[1] Get your finger off the flash. The area of the flash takes a little to get used to
[2] Battery lifestyles is bad
[3] I really have large arms so it is arduous for me to grip it.
[4] Aperture is only F3.1 huge open
[5] Flash costs slow, but is first rate for some extent and shoot (I'm so used to my Canon four30 EX ii pace lite on my DSLR)
[6] Shutter velocitys of 1 second or longer is professionalscribed to simply ISO a hundred.
Final Thoughts:
[1] Canon makes one of the perfect Cameras if now not the perfect. You get plenty of the DSLR know-how compacted into this little thing.
[2] If this digicam had a F2 Aperture just like the Canon S95, it will be Canon's easiest point and shoot camera launched to this point, however there may be a alternate off when you want zoom.
Reviews for Canon PowerShot SX230HS 12.1 MP Digital Camera with HS SYSTEM and DIGIC four Image Processor, 14x optical zoom (Black) (Camera) Canon wants to prevent hanging these vulnerable little batteries in thier digicams! It's simply now not fitting! The SX230 HS sucks up energy from that small battery like a drunk at the end of prohibition! They use the identical battery that includes the SX210 IS and it was insufficent on that digicam. The SX230 HS is even extra power hungry if you are using the GPS for geotagging. I used to be serious about taking this camera to Africa with me however I have critical issues about its price of energy consumption. I could wish to three batteries insure I even have atleast one that is good to move always.
The GPS is from time to time a little gradual to aquire a restoration outdoor and provides a uncommon treat if it chooses up your position inside of. The indoor GPS performance is well inside what I expected. If GPS is to your A list of necessities, Panasonic editions with thier built-in geolocation database is best. The GPS implementation is type of a tack on that Canon put little extra effort into.
At the top of the day, the SX230 HS is a camera so that is essentially the most inportant factor right here. The pictures are just right. I was once mildly stunned however it will by no means replace a Canon S95 (which I do have). The 12MP SX230 HS seems to keep about the same degree of element as the 14MP SX210 IS in low mild conditions at ISO 800. I also own the SX210 IS.
